Many celebrations take place throughout the year in Tallinn and the biggest festivals often have a strong Estonian theme. These events include the Estonian Music Days in April, and the Day of Tallinn each May. Since Tallinn has a fabulous Medieval Old Town, then don't miss Tallinn's Medieval Market in July, where craftsmen, traders, musicians and actors flock to the Old Town. People in costume create an authentic atmosphere, and there are concerts, workshops and children's activities to enjoy.

A city break in Estonia will transport you back in time to an enchanting and stunning bygone era awash with medieval architecture, labyrinthine streets and traditional artisan craft.

In contrast to its magical and historical atmosphere, Estonia is also one of Eastern Europe’s most progressive and youthful countries, boasting a thriving modern art scene and effervescent nightlife. With no shortage of shops, cafés, galleries and fine restaurants, Estonia truly possesses all you’d hope for in a city break.

Those on city breaks in Estonia tend to flock to the wonderful and magnificently preserved capital of Tallinn. The UNESCO listed Old Town district, in particular, which was predominantly constructed between the 11th and 15th centuries, is a genuine historical and architectural treasure and near impossible not to fall in love with.

Explore the city from here and you will be astounded by the unique mixture of old and new, with curious markets and traditional craft shops rubbing shoulders gleaming boutiques and malls. While the beautiful Kadriorg Park, where Peter the Great’s opulent Summer Palace is situated, is the perfect place to unwind. With the accepting and friendly nature of the Estonian people, Estonia is a must for any traveller seeking a refreshing and culturally fulfilling city break.
