One of our favourite ways to spend a day in Berlin is to take a boat ride and see Berlin from its canals and rivers. Actually Berlin has more bridges than Venice and these bridges unite what used to be deeply divided before. At sunset ascend the cupola of the Reichstag and look down on the Brandenburg Gate as the flood lights take over from daylight.

Germany city breaks are rightly reputed to be among the most enjoyable, culturally-rich and enlightening travelling experiences on the globe. With a sweeping and diverse wealth of history, art and entertainment, Germany is a vital and world-class destination that rarely fails to inspire, delight and educate visitors no matter how short or long their stay.

The dynamic and eclectic capital of Berlin has been the fulcrum from which Germany has moved onwards from its troubled and divided past, becoming one of the most cosmopolitan, inclusive and progressive cities in the world.

With a plethora of eye-opening and candid museums into the country’s history, evocative landmarks, internationally acclaimed art galleries, excellent shopping centres and trendy neighbourhoods brimming with fashionable bars, restaurants and cafés, Berlin is the most popular choice for city breaks in Germany.

Germany city breaks do not just begin and end in Berlin, though. There are many other exciting cities, covering a myriad of different styles and cultures, waiting to be explored. Dresden for example is a relatively undiscovered gem but no less fascinating or active than the capital.

Meticulously restored since the bomb raids of World War II, the splendour of Dresden’s Renaissance and Baroque buildings dominate the city with their ornate domes and spires. Packed with world renowned galleries, museums, chic boutiques, cosy cellar bars and rambling promenades, this blossoming city is perfect for a romantic getaway.
