The rest of the day is free to explore at leisure or take an optional night market tour (B)

Full-day tour of Yangmingshan National Park, a mountainous area full of charming waterfalls, volcanic craters, picturesque lakes, terraced rice paddies and steaming hot springs. The profusion of cherry and azalea blossoms in the spring, and cool, fresh mountain air in the summer are added attractions. Visit the scenic and geologically fascinating areas of Hsiaoyukeng, Chingtienkang (soft trekking about 1-2 hours) and Lengshuikeng. (B)

Yehliu Geopark

After breakfast, transfer to Yehliu Geopark to explore its unique rock formations, including the iconic Queen’s Head. Next, visit Jiufen Old Town, a former mining village from the Japanese colonial era, known for its historic Japanese-style buildings, including the famous Amei Tea House, where you can experience a traditional tea ceremony. Don't forget to try the taro balls for dessert. Later, head to Shifen Street, where you can sample local street food. The highlight here is releasing traditional Chinese lanterns. Write your wishes on the lantern and release it into the sky, hoping for them to come true. (B)

TAIPEI TO SUN MOON LAKE
Sun Moon Lake
Today, you'll venture outside of Taipei to visit Sun Moon Lake, the largest lake in Taiwan. Stops include Wenwu Temple, Ci En Pagoda, Xianshan Visitor Center, and the Ita Thao area. If you're up for it, consider biking around the lake—CNN has named the Sun Moon Lake biking trail as one of the top 10 in the world. Afterward, return to the hotel for dinner. (B,D)

SUN MOON LAKE TO ALISHAN
 Alishan National Park

Today, you'll visit Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. Before heading to Alishan, you'll stop at the Tataka trails and the visitor centre in Yushan National Park. You'll also get an exclusive visit to a private tea farm owned by a renowned tea master who is the sole supplier to the owner of Foxconn. He will give you a tour of his farm, share the history of tea, and let you taste his personally crafted tea. Afterwards, you'll ride the highest forest railway in Asia, a short 10-minute journey offering beautiful views of the surrounding giant trees. (B)

ALISHAN TO KAOHSIUNG
Fo Guan Shan Buddha Monastery

On the way to Kaoshiung, we’ll stop in Tainan City to visit Anping Fort and Anping Tree House, both from the Dutch Colonial era. Next, we’ll see the Tainan Confucian Temple, known for its traditional Chinese-style classroom, which is a great photo spot. We’ll then visit Fo Guan Shan Buddha Monastery to see the largest Buddha statue in Asia and explore the impressive park. In the evening, you can take a stroll along the Love River, where the city lights create a beautiful nighttime scene. (B)

Kenting National Park

Enjoy a full day at Kenting National Park with your Hop-on, Hop-off pass. Explore the Forest Recreation Area, Sheding Nature Park, and Eluanbi Park. Today, we’ll explore the eastern side of Taiwan. Start with a visit to the Lungpan Grasslands, where you can take in the expansive, picturesque landscapes. Next, we’ll continue our journey through the National East Coast Scenic Area, known for its stunning coastal views and natural beauty. Our day will end in Chihpen, where you can relax and unwind in the famous hot springs, offering a perfect way to soak in the serene surroundings. (B)

After breakfast, start your day with a visit to Xiaoyehliu to take in the stunning East Coast views. Next, head to the Amis Folk Center to immerse yourself in Amis culture and interact with Indigenous people. Enjoy their performance at 2 pm and sample traditional Amis cuisine at the on-site restaurant. Then, travel to Sanxiantai Beach and Island. Walk across the bridge to Sanxiantai Island, where you might even spot a starfish. On your way to Hualien, stop at Shitiping for a quick glimpse of a different aspect of the East Coast’s natural beauty. (B)
