Take your flight from the UK to Sandakan.
Upon landing in Sandakan, you'll be transferred to Sepilok, where you’ll have the afternoon to unwind. In the evening, embark on a captivating night safari at the Rainforest Discovery Centre. As darkness falls, the jungle awakens, offering a rare chance to encounter the nocturnal creatures that call this lush rainforest home. (D)
Transfer to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and watch a video highlighting the orangutans’ plight and rehabilitation efforts. Then, walk ten minutes along wooden boardwalks through the rainforest to witness the orangutans’ 10:00 feeding. Afterward, visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about the conservation of the world’s smallest bear. The centre currently houses 36 rescued bears, saved from poachers. (B,D)
After lunch, board a speedboat for a two-and-a-half-hour journey up the Kinabatangan River to Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Upon arrival, check in and set off on a late afternoon cruise to spot Borneo’s diverse wildlife and birdlife. As evening falls, set out on a sunset river cruise for wildlife sightings and a stunning estuary sunset.
