This fast paced, tailor-made program is an ideal introduction to Norway for first time visitors who do not have a lot of time. On this 5 day program explore Norway's capital city Oslo, while also taking time to be fully immersed in the spectacular nature of the UNESCO World Heritage site Geirangerfjord - one of the most breathtaking and iconic fjords in the world. This deep-blue fjord stretches about 15 kilometres and is surrounded by towering, snow-capped mountains, lush green cliffs and dramatic waterfalls.
Upon arrival into Oslo Airport take the airport express train to the city centre and continue to the hotel to check in for the night. The remainder of the day is free at leisure to explore Norway's exciting capital.
Today embark on a scenic train journey from Oslo to Dombås aboard the Dovre Railway. The route traces the shores of Lake Mjøsa, Norway's largest lake, before reaching the Olympic town of Lillehammer. The train ascends through the picturesque Gudbrandsdalen valley with its verdant landscapes and traditional farms. Upon arrival at Dombås, change trains and head to Andalsnes, where you will spend the night. (B)
After breakfast, take the bus to Ålesund - one of Norway's most beautiful cities. It is famous for its impressive Art Nouveau architecture which was used to rebuild much of the city after a devastating fire in 1904. Why not head up to Mount Askla for panoramic views of the city, surrounding fjord and mountains or visit one of the many museums on offer. Spend one night here. (B)
Today embark on a scenic cruise through Norway's most awe-inspiring fjord. Get up close to the legendary Seven Sisters waterfall as it plunges 250 metres into the fjord. Glide past historic mountain farms perched on steep hillsides, where families lived and worked for generations. On arrival into Geiranger, transfer to a bus, which will take you to Andalsnes, where you will board the train headed for Oslo via Dombås.(B)
Enjoy some leisure time in Oslo until it is time to bid farewell to Norway and fly back to the UK. (B)
