This fast paced, tailor-made program is an ideal introduction to Norway for first time visitors who do not have a lot of time. On this 6 day program explore Norway's two largest cities, Oslo and Bergen while also taking time to be fully immersed in the spectacular nature of the Sognefjord - the largest of the Norwegian fjords.
Travel along Norway's scenic railway system, including a ride on the famous Flåm Railway, cruise through the Nærøyfjord, the narrowest and most breathtaking arm of the Sognefjord and spend a night amidst it all in the small village of Flåm.
*You will travel the region using railways, ferries and panoramic trains. As such, we recommend packing light.
Upon arrival into Oslo Airport take the airport express train to the city centre and continue to the hotel to check in for a 2-night stay. The remainder of the day is free at leisure to explore Norway's exciting capital.
Today is free to explore Oslo or to book an optional activity. Norway's capital is an energetic and modern hub which is easily explored by foot. Take a stroll along the city's harbour front and past the iconic Opera House or explore one of the many museums or art galleries on offer in the city (the National Museum and the Fram Museum are both excellent options). Vigeland Park, filled with over 200 sculptures, is also well worth a visit on a sunny day. (B)
Today, experience the best that nature has to offer between Oslo and Flåm. Start the day with a ride on the scenic Bergen Railway to the mountain station of Myrdal, a spectacular train journey that offers a panoramic view of some of the most magnificent landscapes of Norway. Upon arrival change to the famous Flåm Railway, one of the steepest train lines in the world. Upon arrival into Flåm the remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)
Today, will be spent soaking up the breath-taking scenery of the fjords. First, cruise through the Nærøyfjord UNESCO landscapes to Gudvangen. Surrounded by towering mountains up to 1,700 metres high, Nærøyfjord is the narrowest and best known of the many arms of the Sognefjord, and perhaps the most outstanding natural attraction in Norway. In the afternoon, travel to Bergen and the remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)
Today, explore Bergen independently or book an optional excursion. We recommend a stroll through Bryggen, Bergen's atmospheric Hanseatic old town located on the harbour front, where you can also find some of the freshest seafood around at the Torget Fish Market. There are plenty of museums on offer, or escape the city on the funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for sweeping views of the fjord-side city and the seven mountains that famously surround it. (B)
Enjoy some leisure time in Bergen until it is time to bid farewell to Norway and fly back to the UK. (B)
