DAY 1
LONDON TO TURIN
Turin

Today, travel from London St Pancras by Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord. On arrival, transfer to Gare de Lyon by Paris RER (takes around eight minutes) to board your onward train to Turin (around seven hours). Alternatively contact us to arrange a stay in Paris. This scenic journey takes you past rolling French countryside and alpine landscapes as you approach Italy. Upon arrival in Turin, check in to NH Torino Centro or similar for a two-night stay. Spend the evening exploring Piazza San Carlo, known as the city’s “living room,” and enjoy a traditional Italian aperitivo at one of its historic cafes.

DAY 2
TURIN
Piazza Castello

Spend the day uncovering Turin’s rich Habsburg heritage. Visit the Royal Palace of Turin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the grand Piazza Castello. For art lovers, the Galleria Sabauda offers an impressive collection of Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces. In the afternoon, explore the Mole Antonelliana, home to the National Cinema Museum, and enjoy panoramic views of the city from its spire. Indulge in local delicacies such as gianduja chocolate and creamy bicerin coffee before retiring for the evening. (B)

DAY 3
TURIN TO TRIESTE
San Giusto Hill (castelliere), Trieste

Depart Turin this morning by train to Trieste, with a connection in Milan (around six and a half hours). The journey takes you across the Lombardy plains and into the Veneto region, before approaching the rugged Karst landscape that surrounds Trieste. Sit on the right-hand side of the train for magnificent views as you descend towards the Adriatic coast, where the sparkling blue sea appears in the distance. As you near Trieste, you’ll catch sight of Miramare Castle, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the sea. On arrival in Trieste, check in to the DoubleTree by Hilton Trieste for a two-night stay. Stroll along the elegant Piazza Unità d’Italia, Europe’s largest sea-facing square, and enjoy dinner at a local trattoria specialising in fresh seafood. (B)

DAY 4
TRIESTE
Trieste

Today is free for you to discover the unique blend of Austrian and Italian influences that define Trieste. Visit the opulent Miramare Castle, perched on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic Sea, and explore its lush gardens. Return to the city to wander through the historic Borgo Teresiano district, lined with neoclassical buildings. In the afternoon, relax at one of Trieste’s famous literary cafes, such as Caffè San Marco, once frequented by James Joyce. Don’t miss a sunset walk along the Molo Audace pier before enjoying dinner with views of the sea. (B)

DAY 5
TRIESTE TO LJUBLJANA
TRIESTE TO LJUBLJANA

This morning, board a short train to Ljubljana, Slovenia (around two hours 45 minutes). The route winds through the striking Karst plateau, a region of limestone formations, caves, and vineyards. Sit on the right-hand side for breathtaking views of rugged cliffs and scattered villages as you leave the coast behind. The train continues through verdant Slovenian landscapes before arriving in the compact capital of Ljubljana. Upon arrival, check in to the City Hotel Ljubljana or similar for a two-night stay. Spend the afternoon exploring the picturesque old town, with its baroque architecture and the iconic Triple Bridge. For dinner, head to one of the riverside restaurants offering Slovenian specialities such as štruklji (rolled dumplings). (B)

DAY 6
LJUBLJANA

Today is left free for you to enjoy a full day exploring Ljubljana, starting with a visit to Ljubljana Castle, where you can soak in panoramic views of the city. Stroll through the bustling Central Market and lively Prešeren Square, and admire the innovative designs of architect Jože Plečnik, including the Triple and Cobblers’ Bridges. In the afternoon, take a relaxing boat cruise along the Ljubljanica River, or rent a bike to explore Tivoli Park and its peaceful gardens. For dinner, savour traditional Slovenian dishes like kranjska klobasa or štruklji, paired with a local wine. End your day with a sweet treat of potica at one of Ljubljana’s charming riverside restaurants. (B)

DAY 7
LJUBLJANA TO ZAGREB

Today, travel by train from Ljubljana to Zagreb, Croatia’s capital (around two and a half hours). The journey follows the Sava River Valley, meandering through lush greenery and quiet villages. This scenic route offers glimpses of forested hills, rolling farmland, and occasional riverside towns. As you approach Zagreb, the landscape opens up to reveal Croatia’s vibrant capital, a city that perfectly blends old-world charm with modern energy. On arrival, check in to the Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria or similar for a two-night stay. Spend the afternoon exploring Zagreb’s Upper Town, home to St. Mark’s Church, the Lotrščak Tower, and the bustling Tkalčićeva Street. (B)

DAY 8
ZAGREB
Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb

Spend the day uncovering Zagreb’s Habsburg charm. Start at the grand Zrinjevac Park and make your way to the Croatian National Theatre. DAY 9
DEPART ZAGREB

Your journey concludes today in Zagreb. You can choose to return to the UK by flight or extend your travels, perhaps heading to Split, Rijeka, or relaxing on one of Croatia's stunning islands.
