NAM HA VILLAGE TO JUNGLE CAMPSITE

You will start your three-day trek through Nam Ha National Protected Area today, which offers a deep dive into the region’s wilderness and indigenous culture. Led by expert forest guides, explore untouched jungles, learn traditional hunting and foraging techniques, and experience life in remote village communities. Along the way,  identify medicinal plants, track wildlife, and prepare meals using jungle ingredients without modern tools.

 

The journey starts with a 0900hrs briefing before heading to the trailhead by Tuk Tuk, stopping at a local market for supplies. The trek begins in Nam Ha village, passing through plantations before entering the dense forest. Lunch is a picnic along the route, followed by hands-on lessons in setting up banana leaf camps and cooking Khmu-style jungle meals. The day ends at a campsite in the primary forest, offering a true off-the-grid experience.

DAY 7
CAMPSITE TO NALAN VILLAGE
Nalan Village Homestay

Start the day with the sounds of wildlife echoing through the jungle as you enjoy a simple but satisfying breakfast. From here, the journey continues with two options. The first is a shorter trek, crossing the Nam Ha River to reach Nalan village, where a traditional lunch awaits, along with an opportunity to learn about Khmu culture firsthand. The second option is a longer, more immersive route, retracing part of the initial trail before venturing deeper into the valley of Nam Ha National Protected Area. This path leads to Nalan village, where you can explore daily life, engage with the community, and gain a deeper understanding of local traditions. (B,L,D)

NALAN VILLAGE TO HOUAY XAI
Nam Ha National Protected Area, Laos

The morning begins with a visit to a local village, where you can enjoy a cup of Lao coffee or traditional tea while experiencing hands-on cultural activities such as crossbow shooting and rice pounding.

 

The day's trek offers two routes. The first option is a shorter hike, ascending through the forest before stopping for lunch, then making the descent to Chalernsouk village. The second option follows the Nam Ha River to Nahome village, where you can meet the Lanten minority group before continuing through breathtaking landscapes to Namlue village. The trek concludes in the afternoon, followed by a return to Luang Namtha by Tuk Tuk. From there, a private van transfer takes you to Houayxay for an overnight stay at a local guesthouse. (B,L)

HOUAY XAI TO THE GIBBON EXPERIENCE

Once you arrive, begin your trek to the treehouses, where you'll spend the next two nights. HOUAY XAI TO LUANG PRABANG

Today, take a scenic drive back to Luang Prabang. On the way, stop at a few interesting villages to photograph local life and landscapes. Upon your return, you’ll have the evening free to relax or explore more of Luang Prabang’s charming streets.
