This itinerary includes a day trip to the Korean Folk Village, a living museum that showcases daily life during the Joseon Dynasty, offering an insight into how traditional Korean life is preserved today. With plenty of free time to explore on your own, this itinerary is ideal for those looking to experience the full range of what Seoul has to offer - whether it's exploring vibrant neighbourhoods, sampling local cuisine, or simply enjoying the city’s dynamic atmosphere.
Upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, you'll be greeted by your English-speaking assistant and transferred to Seoul in a private, air-conditioned vehicle with a dedicated driver (no guide).
Meet your guide at 9am to begin the tour using public transportation, starting with a visit to Gwanghwamun Plaza and Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest of Seoul's royal palaces. You’ll see the ceremonial changing of the guard at 10am, and if you're interested, you can visit The National Folk Museum to learn more about Korean history and culture.
Afterwards, head to Bukchon Hanok Village, where you can explore traditional Korean houses, some still inhabited today, and experience the unique architecture. In the evening, take a sunset cruise on the Han River for a different view of the city as you pass iconic landmarks along the water. (B)
Meet your guide at 9:30am to start your day with a local experience in Seoul. Begin with a visit to Jayang-dong market, where a chef will introduce you to fresh ingredients and guide you through a hands-on Korean cooking class. Afterward, enjoy your homemade meal before having the rest of the afternoon free. In the afternoon, join a Hanji paper-making workshop, where a skilled artisan will teach you the traditional techniques used to create beautiful paper. Afterward, explore the vibrant Insadong Arts and Crafts Street, known for its art galleries, antique shops, and traditional teahouses, offering a deeper look into Korean culture. (B,L)
Meet the guide at 9am for a day tour using public transportation (private transport available at extra cost). Start with a visit to Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO-listed site known for its well-preserved architecture and stunning landscape design (note: closed on Mondays). Next, visit Jogyesa Temple, a vibrant Buddhist temple in the city centre.
For lunch, head to Gwangjang Market, one of Korea's oldest markets. Sample a variety of traditional street foods like Japchae, Tteokbokki and more. Then, visit Namsan Tower for panoramic city views, and take a scenic cable car ride up to the tower. Meet the guide at 9am for a tour by private, air-conditioned vehicle to Suwon (1.5 hours). Visit Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the late Joseon Period, it features unique military structures and reflects the king's vision for a self-sufficient city.
Next, visit the Korean Folk Village, where you can explore daily life from the Joseon Dynasty, including a farming village, private house, Confucian academy, and workshops. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant (own cost), then head to Jidong Market, known for its fresh produce, seafood, meats, and popular street food like tteokbokki and hanjeongsik. Return to Seoul for the remainder of the day at leisure. (B)
At 7:30am, you'll be picked up by a shared transfer and head to the meeting point. From there, begin your journey to the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Don’t forget your passport, as it’s required for this visit. Explore the historical sites of the DMZ, including Freedom Bridge, the Third Infiltration Tunnel, Imjingak Park, the DMZ Museum, and the Dora Observatory. After the tour, transfer back to Seoul by bus, ending at City Hall Station. The guide will provide directions for returning to your hotel.
