Tour Itinerary
Fly to Tromsø airport, pick up your car hire and drive to Kilpisjärvi (journey is approx. 2.5 hours), a lively little village at the top of Finland's "arm" just across the Norwegian border. On arrival, check in at the new design hotel Santa's Hotel Rakka for 4 nights. (B)
Start your day by unwinding at your hotel before setting off in the afternoon for an exhilarating snowmobile adventure. Journey to the spectacular point where Sweden, Finland, and Norway meet, departing from the picturesque and authentic village of Kilpisjärvi in Finnish Lapland. In the evening, step outside your hotel and look out for the elusive Aurora Borealis. (B)
Today, explore the Finnish tundra on foot by joining a guided soft-adventure snowshoe hike through the snowy landscape of Kilpisjärvi, near Saana Mountain. The Sámi people, the indigenous inhabitants of northern Scandinavia, believe that Saana is a sacred mountain. This adventure is perfect for beginners, and hiking both uphill and downhill can be surprisingly enjoyable, as snowshoes float effortlessly even in deep snow. In the evening, retreat back to your hotel or perhaps stay out and search once more for the northern lights. (B)
